My camera bag needs to be replaced, yes. But it’s not damaged and it still serves its purpose (protecting camera and camera accessories) so I do not have a reason to buy a new one. The original sling, however, was dirty and a bit tattered so I was looking for ways to replace it. When my grandmother gave me more than a dozen of her vintage belts, I used one — that’s thick and sturdy enough to withstand the weight of the camera bag with content — and repurposed it.
This is really easy to do especially when you have all the materials on hand, including the latch. I had a pair of latch I saved from an old bag that got tattered through time. I don’t know where to buy this latch but accessories shop may be the best place to go. This needs a little bit of sewing for the belt to attach to the latch but I think glue gun would do. I just thought sewing the belt together is more durable than glue.
