There’s a story about a headband. A cloth headband. A long strip of floral-printed cloth that you wrap around your head and make a knot at your nape to close. I was about 11 years old. Someone gave me P75. I think that money came from my grandpa. During the weekend, I went downtown, all by myself, and went to Uncle Igming’s shop and decided to buy something beautiful for myself. With no definite style icon, and no access to style magazines, and no style blogs, I thought the most beautiful headband was that long strip of floral-printed cloth headband. I kept that headband until the cloth fell apart. I rarely wore that headband but I kept it, hung with belts or placed in my cabinet where I can see it everyday. I always remember that day. I walked home feeling like I won a beauty title.
